This 5th conference will be organised by the Australian Supply Chain Management Research Unit, Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Information Technology of Monash University. The earlier conferences held in Hong Kong, Greece and Taiwan were highly successful and have grown in popularity.This conference continues to enjoy strong support from a number of international universities. The conference theme is Theory Wedded to Practice. The conference schedule will include academic papers, symposia, and contributions from industry. The conference is designed to seek practitioners’ knowledge and opinions, and encourage theory being informed by practice. Academics and practitioners are now invited to submit papers, abstracts, and symposia proposals.
The SCMIS 2007 Conference will be held in conjunction with the 2007 Australian Conference for Knowledge Management and Intelligent Decision Support.
Conference Aims
The conference aims are, in the context of a global economy, to:
- explore the importance and interactions of Supply Chain Management (SCM), Information and Communications Systems (CS), globalisation, and logistics
- identify major trends, challenges, and risks for SCM, ICS, globalisation and logistics
- explore and research the impact and current status of policies of governments and international bodies (such as the WTO) on SCM, ICS, globalisation and logistics
- identify ways in which SCM, ICS, and logistics can contribute to the betterment of humankind, especially citizens of poorer nations
- consider ways in which the teaching of SCM and allied topics can be integrated into tertiary education
- engage practitioners and enable academics and practitioners to swap ideas, problems and solutions.
